1/8 cup of fresh alfalfa seeds Jar for sprouting Cheesecloth
Begin by soaking alfalfa seeds overnight in warm water. Next place seeds in a half quart mason type jar and cover the top of the jar with the cheesecloth. Use a rubber band to secure the cheesecloth. Then place the jar in a warm dark place for 2 days and wait for them to sprout. You need to rinse the seeds every day to remove any undesirable residues and keep them from molding. Once two days have passed, place the jar of sprouts in a sunny window. This will help them turn green as they manufacture chlorophyll during their exposure to sunlight. Use the spouts in any recipe you desire. They are especially good in stir fry. |
