Basic French Bread Recipe 

1 cup milk
1 cup water
1 package instant yeast
2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
6 cups flour

Warm milk and water to 110 degrees.  Add salt, yeast and sugar and allow to dissolve.  Start adding flour slowly until the dough is well formed and elastic.  Do not make too stiff.  Put dough in a greased bowl and let rise until doubled. Then knead dough several times and return to bowl to rise again.  Finally, portion dough into two separate loaves and bake on greased baking sheet.  Set oven temperature to 400 at first, and then reduce to 350 degrees after 15 minutes.  Bake for a total of about 25 minutes.
