Basic White Bread Recipe 

2 cups milk
1 pkg active yeast
1/4 cup warm water
2 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tbsp shortening
2 1/2 tsp salt
6 cups flour

Add yeast to warm water and let stand.  Mix milk and dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.  Stir in yeast mixture and mix well.  Knead dough on a floured surface 6 to 8 times.  Place dough in greased glass bowl and let stand 1 hour.  Turn out dough onto floured surface and knead 2 times.  Return dough to bowl and let rise 1 more hour.  Shape dough into 2 separate loaves.  Place dough into a greased loaf pan.  Bake at 400 degrees for 50 minutes.
