4 cups sugar 1 cup milk 1/2 cup butter 2 tablespoons water
Heat 1 cup of sugar in a cast iron skillet with water, until it starts to caramelize. Stir constantly to keep sugar from burning in pan. In a separate sauce pan, boil milk and add sugar until it dissolves into the hot milk. Add the caramel from the pan and the butter. Continue to cook until mixture begins to thicken. Stir frequently to keep frosting from burning. Beat frosting with an electric mixer until it is creamy and spreadable. |
