Day of the Dead Bread Recipe 

Dough:
1 package instant yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup water (110 degrees)
3 cups flour 
1/4 cup sugar

Topping:
1/4 cup orange juice
1 tablespoon orange zest
2 tablespoons sugar

Mix water and yeast together in a separate bowl.  In a large bowl, combine all the other ingredients and stir well to make sure they are well mixed.  Add yeast mixture and stir.  When dough is elastic, turn out on clean, floured area and knead by hand.  Kneading 10 times is sufficient.  Return dough to bowl and cover with plastic wrap.  Let rise for a hour and then knead 5 more times.  Let dough rise again for one more hour and then place in an greased bread pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.  While bread is baking, combine topping ingredients in a sauce pan and cook at a rolling boil for two full minutes.  Stir constantly to avoid singing the topping.  Remove from heat and set aside.  Check bread for doneness with a knife.  Remove bread and apply prepared topping with a pastry brush.
