3/4 cup shortening 1 1/2 cups molasses 5 tablespoons boiling water 4 cups flour 2 teaspoons baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix shortening, molasses, and boiling water and mix until creamy. Mix and sift dry ingredients before adding to shortening mixture. Chill dough for at least 8 hours before attempting to work with it. Roll dough out to 1/8 inch thick and cut into desired shape. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until done. |
