2 cups sourdough starter 2 tablespoons sugar 2 teaspoons salt 6 cups flour 3/4 cup warm water
Mix all ingredients, except flour, together. Gradually stir in flour. Do it slowly so as not to make the dough too stiff. You may not use all the flour. You want the dough to be elastic, but not too tough. Knead dough by hand carefully for a minute or so. Let this dough rise for 2 hours after the first kneading and then let it rise for 2 more hours before punching down and baking. Bake in a hot oven (375 degrees) for 45 minutes. Makes one large loaf. |
